Sizing a charger for a fleet of devices

Start from cells in rotation, not from devices. A venue with twelve wireless microphones taking two cells each and one spare set is rotating roughly forty-eight cells. That number, divided by how many charge cycles fit in your changeover window, is your slot count.

Independent channels decide whether that maths holds. On a paired-channel charger you cannot charge three cells and leave the fourth slot empty — the pair will not start. Our eight-slot PJ-LCD006 runs eight independent channels for this reason.

Watch total current as slots fill. On the eight-slot, a single AA charges at 1800mA and eight charge at 225mA each. Eight cells therefore take substantially longer than one, which is the calculation that decides whether one charger or three is the right answer.
